FITNESS & NUTRITION
Here’s a topic guaranteed to cause arguments & controversy. Hiding around every corner is a ‘diet expert’ or ‘fitness guru’. I am neither, but I do study these topics as a hobby and have done for many years. I would like to share with you in my e-letters (sign-up now people) what I have learned and, anything new in these fields that I have discovered.
There will be tips on fat loss (not weight loss), info on vitamins, minerals & supplements, news on nutrition, biochemistry (I will try and keep it simple) and facts on exercise, how to save time and increase your results. You will see the occasional product recommendation here & there. These are items I use or trust. My favourite fitness product is Tom Venuto’s ‘Burn the Fat - Feed the Muscle’, it rocks. (And it worked for me!)
At 43 years of age (that’s me) you either stay fit - or fade away rapidly. Around 30-40 years of age muscles start to waste, bones become thinner, both growth hormone & testosterone (especially in men) dwindle away, and fat becomes your new tenant.
This does not have to be inevitable! If you let it happen, it will. If you get off the couch (or lounge as we say in Australia) and move, you will hold onto your strength and youthful vitality much longer. I lift weights and walk regularly, my diet is OK, but could be better (and I study nutrition - shame on me). I maintain my weight & fitness levels (and waist measurements) and I am stronger now than I was when I was 20 years old.
Resistance exercises (weight lifting), even light weights really does have countless benefits, and, if you add a little aerobic stuff as well, like walking, running or cycling you have an unbeatable combo. Clean-up your diet too, and you will see a huge difference in your health, fitness & appearance. This is not all about vanity (even if it does play a small part), this is about maintaining your health & vitality into your later decades.
My advanced fat-loss & motivation secret actually hangs in my wardrobe. It’s a pair of trousers that I bought over 10 years ago. These trousers are my guide, when I can’t get them zipped-up it’s emergency time. Off my backside and into exercise mode. They have served me well, and I don’t even wear them anymore. I don’t use scales, I don’t even know how much I weigh. Use your mirror for your body shape and your feelings for your health. Look good? Feel great? Then you’re on the right track!
